Client:
Sam’s Club
Project Name: C-store Kits
Description: Sam’s Club—a division
of Wal-Mart stores, Inc.—is a leading bulk retailer
of merchandise and services for business owners and consumers.
As part of the Ivie® Group (http://www.ivieinc.com),
China Printing Solutions International was tapped to produce
a high quality small business marketing kit consisting of
a sturdy box, color coded laminated inserts and a plastic
handle. Leveraging China’s strengths in hand-assembly
work and our own attention to quality and detail, CPS produced
a box of excellent quality at approximately 25% of the domestic
production in the USA!
Key Challenges: Although CPS was provided
with a finished design, as per our normal procedure we first
produced an unprinted prototype of the product to ensure
there would be no snags. In doing so, we were able to introduce
key engineering improvements, including lowering the inside
tray to allow clearance for the plastic handle, increasing
the height of the inserts and the box for a greater aesthetic
impact and fit, and affixing small magnets inside the rear
of the box to allow the inner tray to remain safely sealed,
even under pressure of heavy contents. We also sourced a
number of different plastic handles to find the most suitable
match for this product.
The result was a product that looked better, worked better
and cost much less than originally demanded.
Techniques Used: Structural Engineering, Graphic
Production, Materials sourcing, 4 color printing, gloss
lamination, die cutting, hand assembly. |
